moodboard | dreamy hazy

well i'm back from lovely slovenia, it was such a nice break, and i feel pretty refreshed! i booked the rest of this week off work though to get in some serious design homework time, so i'm stuck back in already. it's nice to start again on something fresh though... i'm about to start working on a magazine design for the ipad, and now that i've got my moodboards sorted, i'm pretty excited about it! this is one of the moodboards, it's pretty dreamy and hazy and i kinda love it, possibly my favourite so far! hopefully it won't be long before i'm back to share some pics of slovenia, in the meantime though there are a few over on my instagram.

designer | les graphiquants

i keep seeing the work of les graphiquants, a paris based design studio popping up here and there and i keep thinking ooooooooh i really like that. and i do, i reeeally like their work. it is sooo nice. i love the layouts and use of space, the gorgeous stylised typography and simple colour palettes. it's fabulous and fun and their website is also really well designed, and very clickable!

i have a week off design school coming up, so i'm off for a break in slovenia tomorrow. it looks like it's going to be almost as cold as it is here, but i'm so super excited about a few days away. i'll be back soon with lots of photos i'm sure!

designer | mathilde nivet

I've been doing some research into paper cut design for a project i'm working on in college, and have found some seriously talented designers along the way. Like, woah. And I've just discovered the work of parisian designer mathilde nivet, whose work particularly stood out to me. Ohmigosh, it's so amazing, and it's so so gorgeous, don't you think? I reeeally love her style! It's the end of a lovely birthday weekend, and think it's about time I get on with my work and maybe even get my craft knives out!

moodboard | modern retro

i feel like i'm a bit of a moodboard making machine at the moment. i end up making so many for each design brief i'm given, but i really enjoy the process so i just keep on rolling them out! i'm calling this one modern retro, which sounds a bit silly to me, maybe because i've just said it so many times in my head?! anyway, i'm sticking with it. it's for a branding brief i'm working on at the moment, one of many, they're keeping me busy! i can't get enough of that milkbar typography. there are lots more of my moodboards building up over on my tumblr!

the end of a lovely sunny london weekend. saturday tea and a croissants fresh from the bakery, a bus to st paul's, a stroll across the millennium bridge, and a long overdue visit to the tate modern. mooching around the galleries and choosing our favourite works of art. admiring the view across the city. a nice stroll back and home for warm food and good wine. sunny sunday and a relaxing morning, cheese bread and olives, homework and tangerines, and a walk around sunny islington. browsing gorgeous design shops, falling in love with a desk i'll never be able to afford. and then down to camden passage to mooch around the antique market, lovely crockery and prints and a beautiful vintage tulle dress. home for reece's peanut butter cups milkshakes - of course! i love london.

designer | noah collin

possibly one of my favourite designers i've discovered since starting my course. noah collin graduated from edinburgh college of art just last year, and his portfolio is amazing, and packed full of gorgeous inspiration... so nice hey? hope you all have a lovely weekend! we have a fairly quiet one planned & not too much homework for me yeay!

designer | herb lester maps

not a designer really, but lots of designers... herb lester 'look for the usual and the unusual in london and beyond' and then work with amazing illustrators and designers to create super awesome maps. yes. nick got one of them for christmas, which lists quiet and unknown places to meet in london. i totally love it and may have sort of claimed it as my own. hee. the designs are gorgeous, lovely enough to stick straight up on your wall. i really love maps loads. and these maps are so beautifully designed, it's ridiculous. i want them all. especially love the design of the copenhagen map by matt chase. it's making me want to visit even more!

designer | marjolein delhaas

i discovered the work of holland based designer marjolein delhaas recently, in folklore, which is one of my most favourite shops, handily situated about 2 minutes from my flat. dangerous. anyway, they stock her collection of diaries and calendars. and i am sort of obsessed with them. that calendar comes with a nice long to do list to hang beside it. amazing. it's almost february, so i'm not sure i can justify buying one of these beauties at the moment, when i'm a poor student, and urm, i have a totally ace 2013 diary. these are going straight to the top of the 2014 wishlist though, that's for sure.

the snow is falling thick and fast outside but i mostly have to stay home and get on with my homework. there's nothing like a bit of a pinning sesh to get a bit of inspiration before i crack on with it all. hopefully i'll get to pop out at some point and build a snowman / take several hundred photos of the snow. anyway, i'm obviously feeling a bit monochromatic and typographic this morning...

i was reminded by pinterest this morning of how much i love peggy wong's photography, in particular her travelogue series, i swear it just keeps getting better and better. i discovered peggy's blog on bluepoolroad a few years ago and have admired her work ever since. her travelogue posts just inspire me so much. her photography is so beautiful and inviting - it makes me want to visit, or re-visit everywhere she's been. i also love the way she marries typography with her photographs so beautifully...

that is a huge load of inspiration right there. must learn how to use my SLR a bit more this year! and hopefully do some more travelling, especially once my course finishes. yes.
