portobello road

portobello road | sally mussellwhite

Last weekend I had both my sisters staying, and in the few hours of sunshine we got on the Sunday, between the storms, we headed to Portobello Road in Notting Hill. I hadn't been for ages so it was lovely to have a wander around. We mooched through the market stalls, treated ourselves to cupcakes for later, bought daffodils and blood oranges, and ate yummy falafel on our way down the road. We really did luck out with the weather because the skies opened up just as we were getting back on the tube. It was a pretty gorgeous and colourful few hours though!

those peonies

Those peonies I bought from Columbia Road Flower Market the other week. Enjoying the last of the Summer sunshine. They weren't the best peonies in the world, but they were still super pretty.

shoreditch

On Sunday last weekend I met up with my lovely friend Claire and went for a long overdue visit to Columbia Road Flower Market. It was super packed as always, but was nice to mooch around in the sun, catch up and pick out some pretty peonies. From there we walked over to Redchurch Street to check out all the street art and had a lovely long lunch at The Albion. I love London weekends.

hampstead

Having homework free weekends still feels like a total luxury. It’s been soooo nice to be able to properly catch up with friends and family, enjoy this gorgeous summer weather we’ve been having and get out and about in London again.

On the ‘last day of summer’ we headed up to Hampstead Heath for a nice long walk followed by lunch in the sunshine in Hampstead Village. It was a completely gorgeous day, totally relaxed and un rushed, and followed by some reeeeeeally good food and wine at home with a film. It was so lovely, also, I really want to move to Back Lane. I hope you all had wonderful weekends!

graduation

sally mussellwhite | business cards

well i graduated from design school last night, this has honestly been the fastest year of all time! i'm mostly exhausted but it's so nice to be at home with no homework and deadlines looming over me. and it's such a huge relief to finally have gotten to this stage. my online portfolio is live, my business cards were handed out at the show last night, and i can finally relax a bit. i've already caught up on a lot of sleep today! and now i'm looking forward to blogging, reading, seeing all my friends and family and hopefully getting out of london a bit! but i'm also excited about working on some non-student briefs, and developing my portfolio more. i hope you like it! (the business cards were printed by moo - i used their printfinity service so i could have six different designs with my contact details on the back. they're really nice quality, and were printed super fast, so i definitely recommend them.)

right now

blossom | sosallydesign

we're just back in london after a lovely weekend with friends and the most super cute baby, ever. it was fun and relaxing. but things have been very busy. work, catch ups with friends, college and house hunting, argh! and my teux deux list is getting longer, and i might be a little behind on my homework. eeek. but it hasn't happened much, and i figure i can't get all of it done all of the time. come may though i think i'm really going to have to knuckle down and put my all into this course before i graduate. anyway, just wanted to check in and say hi. i'm so glad spring has finally decided to arrive! there is blossom everywhere, and that definitely makes me happy! hope you all had lovely weekends. x photo taken on my iphone in london this week.

as usual i'm off to dorset for the long weekend, it is going to be bitterly cold this year but hopefully we'll get a bit of sunshine! Hope you all have lovely Easter weekends! x

love london

love london | so sally designthe end of a lovely sunny london weekend. saturday tea and a croissants fresh from the bakery, a bus to st paul's, a stroll across the millennium bridge, and a long overdue visit to the tate modern. mooching around the galleries and choosing our favourite works of art. admiring the view across the city. a nice stroll back and home for warm food and good wine. sunny sunday and a relaxing morning, cheese bread and olives, homework and tangerines, and a walk around sunny islington. browsing gorgeous design shops, falling in love with a desk i'll never be able to afford. and then down to camden passage to mooch around the antique market, lovely crockery and prints and a beautiful vintage tulle dress. home for reece's peanut butter cups milkshakes - of course! i love london.

not a designer really, but lots of designers... herb lester 'look for the usual and the unusual in london and beyond' and then work with amazing illustrators and designers to create super awesome maps. yes. nick got one of them for christmas, which lists quiet and unknown places to meet in london. i totally love it and may have sort of claimed it as my own. hee. the designs are gorgeous, lovely enough to stick straight up on your wall. i really love maps loads. and these maps are so beautifully designed, it's ridiculous. i want them all. herb lester | clandestine londonherb lester | europe mapsherb lester | paris mapherb lester | writing london mapherb lester | uncles guide to londonherb lester | copenhagen mapespecially love the design of the copenhagen map by matt chase. it's making me want to visit even more!

i'm not usually the biggest fan of autumn, but either it's growing on me or it's just been the most beautiful autumn ever this year! sunday was gorgeous and so our day = tea and pastries, a lovely walk along the canal, some shops and home for sunday evening relaxing, food and wine. yum. i squeezed quite a bit of homework in too! but i couldn't stay in on such a fab day, and walking along the canal is one of my favourite things, it's a nice way to escape london, right in the heart of london!
